Here’s the thing: when would a college kids ever want to wear, or even get the chance to wear, something fancy? As far as I know, most of the time I roll out of bed and throw on whatever is at the top of my drawers, hoping for the wamest and coziest thing I can find before running to class. But more often than not once I get to class, I realize how I actually dressed for the day and suddenly want to run and hide hoping noone sees me.
Do you ever feel like you want to dress nice, but not too nice where you look like you are totally overdoing it while putting in the littlest amount of effort? Instead, you just want to look more presentable than usual?
Sometimes I find that adding the extra collared shirt or the shoes you only wear for special occasions does the job perfectly. I have been seeing a lot of layers and pattern blocking recently. Everything is so cool and different, yet everything is still so chic!
My favorite thing of the season is the newest trend of pattern-blocking. (Lately, the trends have only been color-blocking, but this new trend has me crazed!) In order to find something that I felt was even close in comparison to anything similar, I had to dig deep down into my closet. I found this collared black shirt that “pattern-blocked” with a plaid. While keeping the outfit chic and a little more fancy that usual, I added the leather jeans but cuffed them to add a little edge. Lastly, I threw on my Jeffery Campbell booties, which are perfect for a little bit more of a dressed up outfit.
Whallahh! A perfect outfit to throw on for class, simple yet chic. How can you not feel like a queeeen strutting this around campus or town?
